Vash the Stampede is a pacifist who also happens to be one of the biggest badasses in the galaxy. Tenchi Masaki is a well-trained badass who happens to be one of the biggest schmoes in the galaxy. Despite his youthful awkwardness, however, he’s also an amazing ladies’ man who apparently makes every crazy woman he meets fall madly in love with him. Tenchi previously bested Luke Skywalker with the help of his superpowered would-be girlfriends. We’ll see if he can manage alone or if he’ll need them again here.

Ah, lovely, lovely Ryoko. The animated beauty from the various Tenchi Muyo! series and movies, Ryoko is the one person that I would try to wrangle into a three-way with my wife…if she really existed. She’s got magic gems on her wrists that make her the most powerful being in the universe if she possesses all three, she has spiky blue hair, and like to walk around naked in baths…Mmmm…
Um, anyway, she’ll be facing off against the Incredible Hulk, who is my favorite literary character ever. Yeah, I said literary…comic books count as literature. The Hulk doesn’t quite have the sex appeal of Ryoko, but he is the strongest being in the world and is so mighty as to be potentially unkillable.
Tenchi Muyo in Love is a very misleading title for the first Tenchi movie. It’s technically correct, but it deals with Tenchi and the gang going back to the past to save Tenchi’s mother Achika, not with Tenchi actually falling in love with one of the girls. For that, you’d need to watch Tenchi Forever, which is actually a final conclusion to the Tenchi Universe continuity.
Regardless of the misleading title, Tenchi Muyo in Love is a good movie. “You’re the Inspiration” is a good song by Chicago. Why not combine the two? Click on young Achika to download the video and see the final result.
This is one of the rare videos I’ve done that doesn’t stick to any one video source. The music is Frank Sinatra’s version of “Swing on a Star.” Video clips here are drawn from Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Dragonball Z, El Hazard, Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo!, and Tenchi Universe. Despite the numerous sources, I think it works pretty well as a video, giving a survey of wacky and (mostly) similarly-themed anime. Click on the stunned picture of Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki to download the video.
Tenchi Masaki is the most eligible bachelor in the universe. He lives near a Shinto shrine in Japan, and trains under his grandfather, who is probably the biggest badass in the universe. His main weapon is his mad sword abilities and the uncontrolled power of his mystical lighthawk wings. Luke Skywalker is the last of the Jedi. The son of Darth Vader and the star of the Star Wars trilogy, Luke’s got some mad Jedi skills and sports a lightsaber that matches him nicely to Tenchi’s mystical blazing sword. He’s got a prosthetic hand left over from an old war injury and is the most powerful Jedi ever seen.
Let’s play more of “combine two of my favorite things!” Up for today: Tenchi Muyo! and The Incredibles. While no clips from Tenchi make it into this video, the music used is “Pioneer,” which was played during the opening of the Tenchi Muyo! OAV. Enjoy!
