A glimpse into the great beyond.Another month brings another Fiction Feature with Awesome Adventures! Comics. This time, I’ve got a “short short” called “A Slice of Death.” Straddling the line between short story and prose poem, it details one man’s glimpse at the afterlife.

As I mentioned in the blog entry over at Awesome Adventures!, a previous Fiction Feature, “Foundling,” has been accepted for publication in Aoife’s Kiss and will be printed in the fall of 2012.

Next month will bring, if I finish it, a story about a mad scientist and his dead sister. Stay tuned!

Wonder Dan away!“No need to thank me,” I said, casually shaving her cat…

Sometimes I can be witty with my stories, and sometimes I just like to go off the deep end. “The Adventures of Wonder Dan!” is the new Fiction Feature at Awesome Adventures! Comics, and is an example of the latter. With a shaved cat, a villainous tree, and a sidekick named Slapnuts, it’s one of the most off-the-wall tales I’ve ever written up.

That's FROM the Devil, not FOR the Devil.Awesome Adventures! Comics has its newest Fiction Feature, “Sympathy from the Devil.” It’s a tale of cinema, Satan, and sorrow.

You might notice that the previous Fiction Feature, “Eight-Bit Heaven,” has gone missing. Where might it have disappeared to? I’ll announce that soon.

Best of the Best

Art, as always, done by Andy PorwitzkyRumors of a vampire threatened us all, so I called upon the best of the best.

The newest Awesome Adventures! Comic is now up, courtesy of Sarah’s impatience and her garnering sympathy from Andy because she’s pregnant. This time we go to a gothic landscape where a pair of monster hunters seeks out a vampire who has been threatening the region.

We’re now alternating between longer comics of 4-5 pages and shorter comics of 3 pages or less. This is a short cycle, but the story is tightly paced and the art continues to improve as Andy gets more practice. Head over to Awesome Adventures! and check it out!

Femme Fatale

A preview of this month's Awesome Adventures! ComicThere’s a fine line between a femme fatale and a damsel in distress…

The newest Awesome Adventures! Comic is now up, featuring a noir adventure with art by Andy Porwitzky and a script and layout by yours truly!

Well, technically, Andy as the artist did the layout based on the outline left in my script. As not-an-editor, I don’t know exactly how credit gets divvied up like that. I do know that it’s the first time I’ve put layout notes in the script, so the format is pretty basic this time around. In future comics, I should get better at allowing Andy to present the art more dynamically.

Either way, the point is that the new Awesome Adventures! Comic is up now. Go check it out!
