Blood Bond (Su) By sharing a drop of blood, a deep huntsman can form a bond between itself and one other willing humanoid or fey. Those sharing the blood bond can communicate with one another at will as though using a message spell cast by an 8th-level spellcaster. If a creature the huntsman has bonded is brought below 0 hp in combat, the huntsman flies into a rage as a free action. The effects of this rage are the same as the blood rage universal monster ability. Forming this blood bond requires a full-round action that provokes an attack of opportunity. The huntsman can have a blood bond with a maximum of four creatures at one time. The bond lasts for one week and cannot be broken earlier than that by anything short of death.

Ruthless and sadistic killers, deep huntsman are nonetheless defined by a profound need for companionship. They resemble pale-skinned humanoids but also have clear animalistic features, such as beady rat-like eyes and wolf-like fangs. Deep huntsmen stand just under five feet tall, although hunch while they move to make themselves seem smaller.

Deep huntsmen commonly serve as emissaries between the fey of the Court of Ether and the dark folk of the Shadow Caverns. As an act of good faith between the fey and dark folk, they often hunt down escaped slaves, either returning them to the slave markets or slaying them outright. Despite their relative good standing among both the fey and dark folk, they rarely stay in large communities for very long, showing obvious discomfort when forced to interact with any creature that is not part of their chosen pack.

Deep huntsmen live for two things: the thrill of the kill and the camaraderie shared between hunting companions. Despite their discomfort around large crowds, they yearn for personal ties and will sometimes form blood bonds even with humanoids or fey outside their species. Those who have lost their pack feel that they have nothing left to live for and will fight to the death even against insurmountable odds. Huntsmen who travel with a full entourage delight in the chase that leads up to a kill, often setting traps and making noises that echo through the caverns of the Darklands, driving their prey into a frightened frenzy before they finally strike.
