About Me
If you’ve stumbled upon this site without knowing anything about it, you’re probably wondering who is behind this chaotic mess. Well, that would be me. My name is Charlie Brooks, and the Screamsheet is a representation of what goes through my brain on a daily basis.
I’m from the frigid wasteland of Vermont, and I’m obsessed with entertainment. At some point in my life I decided that I wanted to entertain for a living, preferably through writing. But first I wound up training to be a crypto linguist in the United States Air Force, getting discharged for clinical depression, and spending a year with a hideous abusive woman before finding my grounding. Luckily, I’ve bounced back since then and gotten my life on track, putting together a modest list of publications and awards.
More importantly, I hit the jackpot in terms of significant others, finding my wife Sarah in college and marrying her in 2008. Sarah is an artist in her own way, with an amazing eye for photography and a great singing voice. She’s also my muse and sounding board, giving me inspiration and feedback on projects I’m working on. Just about everything you see on this site can be partially attributed to her.
The Screamsheet is a reflection of my personality. Because of that, there’s a little bit of everything here, from the games I play and music I enjoy to the more serious stuff I write. This is a place for both random jokes that come into my head and rough drafts of work that I hope to get published someday. I’m also happy to share material from others here – you’ll find some work submitted by my friends and readers here and there. If you feel like sending material my way, go right ahead and do so. If not, just enjoy what catches your fancy and let me know what you think of this online representation of my chaotic mind.
